Cambodian Oldies-
I absolutely love listening to Khmer music, especially the classic oldies sung by the Golden Age singers Sin Sisamouth, Ros Sereysothea, Pen Ron, etc. The songs are so romantic and are sung beautifully. The lyrics are so deep, I can’t even begin to explain or yet translate the meanings. Even if I tried to translate the songs, it wouldn’t sound or mean the same in English. There are certain words and phrases in the Khmer language that are more powerful and stress particular emotions which are hard to describe…
This song is not as well-known, but is the most romantic and one of my favorites.
It reminds me of the my most recent trip to Cambodia because this song played occasionally in my Uncle’s car as we cruised the city and the countrysides of Cambodia <3
Sin Sisamouth - Brot Snae Somnop Jet (apparently means something along the lines of “favorite heartache” or “broken love still dear to me” according to my mother)
